Warrington Musical Society
About The Choir
Established in the 1830s, Warrington Musical Society (WMS) is one of the oldest musical societies in England. It is a mixed Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses choir and currently has 18 members. We currently rehearse on a Tuesday evening (19.15-21.30) between 30 and 40 weeks a year at Christ Church School, Padgate, Warrington under our Musical Director, Dan Pugh-Bevan, and normally perform three concerts per year at Christ Church, Padgate,
We have sung a wide range of pieces in recent years, including oratorios, requiems and traditional folk songs. Our most recent concert in June combined singing Haydn's Nelson Mass and some well-known traditional songs. Our Christmas concert combines carols and readings. We welcome singers of all ages who are prepared to give a high level of commitment to attending rehearsals and taking part in concerts. We do not audition. We sometimes use internal and external soloists for our concerts as we did for the June concert; external soloists are often recruited from the Royal Northern College of Music.
We are a friendly, supportive, choir and always welcome new members. Our subscriptions are £100 per year, payable in January
